In September, the Emmy Awards included a number of music-related categories for some of the more innovative programs on television.
The so-called “emerging media” category includes scores and soundtracks for shows seen on newer services like Netflix and Amazon Studios as well as cable stalwarts HBO and Showtime.
On “City Lights,” contributor Scott Stewart discussed the music of “emerging media” programming with producer Erin Wright.
Among the scores they talked about were from the programs “Marco Polo,” “Transparent,” “Texas Rising,” “Outlander” and “Penny Dreadful.”
Stewart, a member of the music faculty at The Westminster Schools, also is the host of “Strike Up the Band!,” which airs at 9 p.m. Tuesday on the WABE live stream and at 11 a.m. Saturday on the WABE classical stream.
