Eclipse enthusiasts began gathering Monday morning at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park to watch the solar eclipse.

Amanda Corman, interpretive park ranger at Kennesaw Mountain said that the park is expecting more guests than they usually would see on a Monday morning, but park rangers were unsure about specifically how many to expect.

This is the day sky-watchers in Georgia and across the U.S. have waited for: the first total solar eclipse to travel across the U.S., coast to coast, in almost a century.

Eclipse day is here, and revelers across the country are gearing up for the big event.

In Georgia, people are making the trek to the part of the state that's in the solar eclipse's path of totality. 

Virginia Boudreaux and her family from Lafayette, Louisiana, traveled to a field in Dillard, Georgia, for the “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity." 

For Boudreaux, her mom, grandmother, great-aunt and cousin, it’s family time.

Americans with telescopes, cameras and protective glasses staked out viewing spots along a narrow corridor from Oregon to South Carolina to watch the moon blot out the midday sun Monday in what promised to be the most observed and photographed eclipse in history.

Ga. Tech Creates Soundtrack For Atlanta's Solar Eclipse

The moon will block about 98 percent of the sun in Atlanta.

Atlanta will have its own soundtrack for the eclipse.

Composers from Georgia Tech created the soundtrack timing the music to be in sync with the eclipse.

It's kind of a dark, heavy piece with pitch changes to convey what's happening. For example, high pitches represent the moon and lower pitches the sun.
