'An Atlanta Christmas' Continues Radio Theater Tradition

Dec 1, 2015

Radio, particularly classic American radio drama, is known as the "theater of the mind." The Atlanta Radio Theatre Company takes that classic format to contemporary audiences year-round with their podcasts and regular live performances.

What the group may be best known for, however, is their annual holiday show. Now in its 16th consecutive year on Atlanta stages, "An Atlanta Christmas" is told in a series of short, loosely historical vignettes invoking warm Christmas memories. The play was originally written by Thomas E. Fuller and adapted for audio by Daniel Taylor.

Lois Reitzes interviewed the ARTC's executive director, David Benedict, along with head writer Brad Strickland about the ever-evolving holiday tradition.

Tickets for this year's performances can be purchased here.
