The millennial generation now makes up the largest segment of the nation's workforce.
So, to attract them to Atlanta, the Chamber of Commerce is going all out: renting a house in Austin, Texas, for the SXSW festival next month to exhibit all things Atlanta.
Kate Atwood heads up the Chamber's ChooseATL initiative, whose sole purpose is to attract millennials to Atlanta.
She explains: "The story that we have to tell can’t just be like, 'Oh, we have the jobs; we have the jobs.' There are more competitive cities and markets out there that do have the jobs. So we have to go out with an overlay of lifestyle and culture that makes this really fun."
That means that at SXSW, ChooseATL will display a microcosm of life in the city -- everything from performances from Atlanta musicians, to talks by cultural figures, to appearances by local start-up businesses.
