DeKalb County is having success finding shelter for those who wore the uniform.
DeKalb is the first county in Georgia to reach a milestone known as "functional zero" for homeless veterans.
That landmark means if a homeless vet is willing to accept housing, it is available.
Counties get this status if they can prove it takes less than three months to find permanent housing for veterans who agree to take it.
According to interim DeKalb CEO Lee May, the county has found housing for nearly 400 vets thus far this year.
