A DeKalb County law enforcement officer is hoping to clear his name after a weekend arrest.
Sheriff Jeffrey Mann is facing charges of indecency and obstruction.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution quotes an Atlanta police report that says Mann exposed himself while walking toward a police officer Saturday night in Piedmont Park.
The report obtained by the AJC also says the officer identified himself as a cop and ordered Mann to stop.
Mann fled the scene on foot but was eventually caught after a quarter-of-a-mile chase, the report said.
He bonded out of jail Sunday morning.
Both of the charges Mann faces are misdemeanors.
"Usually a fine, perhaps community service and probation if you're convicted of it, it's also not the type of offense which would necessarily require his removal from office," said WABE legal analyst Page Pate.
In a statement Mann released to Channel 2, he called the whole matter a misunderstanding and said he hopes to clear his name.
