Starting in July, health insurance provider Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia will stop covering emergency room visits it deems unnecessary.

And doctors and analysts have a lot to say about it.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia is enacting this policy because it doesn't want people to use the emergency room as their primary health care.  

An Atlanta hospital faces sanctions after investigators discovered pharmacy employees ordered more than 1 million doses of addictive drugs for illegal use.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Tuesday that an investigation found a scheme involving two pharmacy technicians at Emory University Hospital Midtown.

An order by the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy says two workers secretly ordered drugs from a wholesaler for five years and billed the hospital. The prescription medications included an anti-anxiety drug and powerful painkillers.

A statement issued Tuesday by the Carter Center says the 90-year-old will address reporters Thursday morning in Atlanta.

Carter revealed on Wednesday that he had been diagnosed with cancer. In a brief statement, he said a surgery to remove a small mass from his liver had revealed cancer that had spread to other parts of his body. He said he planned to undergo treatment at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta and promised more details soon.

The Carter Center has released a statement from former President Jimmy Carter saying he has been diagnosed with cancer.

Carter, 90, underwent a medical procedure on Aug. 3 to remove a small mass in his liver. At the time the Carter Center released a statement that the procedure was done without issues and the prognosis was "excellent for a full recovery."

Carter says that he is arranging his schedule to be treated at Emory Healthcare.
