The Railroad Model Club of Atlanta has been around for more than seven decades, operating its vintage train set-up from the same second-floor room on Edgewood Avenue for nearly that entire time.

So, why doesn’t anyone know about it? Kate Sweeney went to find out.

The Railroad Model Club of Atlanta welcomes visitors the first Saturday morning of every month. Find out more here.

The Vinyl Collector - Audio Slideshow

Jun 3, 2014

How do you collect your music? Digital downloads? Do you (still) have shelves at home filled with CDs? Or are you one of the few for whom the ultimate in sonic enjoyment still means just one thing: records?

In this audio slideshow, we visit the house and record collection of Chip Duffey -- a vinyl collector who traces his enthusiasm back to his childhood in the '70s. When WABE's Kate Sweeney originally interviewed Duffey, the two listened to a few records and talked about what makes the experience of vinyl different.

The National Train Show, hosted by the National Model Railroad Association, kicks off today at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta and runs until Sunday.

The show brings in vendors and enthusiasts from Atlanta and all over the country. The convention features a variety of displays including a Lego MiniLand and an appraiser who will tell visitors the value of their model trains.

WABE’s David Barasoain paid the convention a visit and brought back these sounds.
