This is a story about love, loss and second chances.

Michelle Foster and Kirk Smith both lost their spouses to cancer within about a year of each other. They went about their lives without any knowledge of one another, but it would not continue that way. Michelle, now Michelle Foster-Smith, told the couple's story in the StoryCorps Atlanta booth.

This story was recorded in partnership with the Atlanta History Center, which hosts Atlanta's StoryCorps Booth

This is a story about plants.
